Mississippi Press and the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters will host a joint seminar on FOI and In-Depth reporting Thursday, July 31 at the Country Club of Jackson.
The event will be held from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and lunch will be provided.
Scheduled sessions include Legal Issues Surround Artificial Intelligence; Open Meetings & Public Records in Mississippi; a panel discussion with print, digital and broadcast investigative reporters; Objecting to Closed Meetings and Closed Records; and Dealing with Defamation Threats.
Presenters include Charlie Mitchell, retired journalist and assistant professor at the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media; Leonard Van Slyke, retired attorney and Mississippi Press FOI consultant; Anita Lee, longtime reporter for the Sun Herald and an Mississippi Press Hall of Fame member; and Tom Hood, executive director of the Mississippi Ethics Commission.
The event is supported by the Mississippi Press Foundation. Registration is $30 and includes lunch.
