The Daily Mississippian at Ole Miss and The Radionian at Jones College were awarded General Excellent in collegiate media Thursday during the annual O.C. McDavid Journalism Summit in Ridgeland hosted by the Mississippi Press Foundation.
About 50 student journalists and faculty attended the event, which featured presentations by the staff of the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center at Southern Miss, a discussion of photojournalism with freelance photographer Chris Todd, and a keynote by Putlizer-nominated cartoonist, author and broadcaster Marshall Ramsey.
"We are very proud of these student journalists and what they have accomplished," said Mississippi Press Foundation Vice Chairman George R. Turner of The Greene County Herald in Leakesville and The Richton Dispatch. "It's a privilege for us to be able to recognize their good work."
