Your local sales and revenue conference is Feb. 8-9

Improving your local sales results and helping you find success with niche products are two key objectives for the annual MPA Mid-Winter Conference, Feb. 8-9. The event will once again be held at the Hilton Jackson on County Line Road.

 

Presenters include leading sales and multimedia trainer Mike Blinder of the Blinder Group.


Blinder is known nationally and internationally for his expertise in media, sales and marketing. As owner and manager of The Blinder Group, he performs training, designs sales programs, and conducts seminars for client media companies and the advertisers they serve all over the world.


He is also the author of Survival Selling a Business to Business sales guide highly acclaimed within many industries.

Leonard Woolsey, publisher and president of the Galveston County (Texas) Daily News, will lead a session on "Finding New Success in Magazine Publishing," offering hints and tips on launching new supplementary products or increasing revenue in existing magazines.

The conference will culminate with the presentation of the MPA Better Newspaper Contest Advertising Awards at noon on Saturday, Feb. 9.

TUITION GRANTS

A limited number of tuition grants from the MPA Education Foundation are available to member newspapers to help defray the cost of registration. Newspaper members are eligible for one grant in the amount of $100 on a first-come, first-served basis.

1 pm – Opening General Session: "It’s Time For Us to Get our Swagger Back!"

 

Presented by Mike Blinder. There is no question that digital disruption is effecting our audience and profits. However, are we living a “self fulfilling prophecy” by moving our focus away from leveraging our editorial assets as a core revenue source? There is profit for newspapers when we focus on what we do best! And, polish up our products & packages so they become more exciting to our audience and advertisers. Mike Blinder President/ Founder of the Blinder Group is an author, internationally recognized as an expert on media advertising and a “sales street fighter,” who  generated over 100,000 million dollars for the global industry in multimedia ad sales. He will evangelize on this very topic, “ dissecting" the the latest research & data that proves we are still a great industry, with great products and a great future ahead. As long as we “keep our eye on the ball!”

"Leveraging Digital Services to Gain New Legacy Revenue!"

 

Presented by Mike Blinder. In the past year, The Blinder Group generated over $3.5 Million Dollars in new ad revenue for their newspaper clients by creatively packaging digital solutions with the more profitable legacy products.  Mike Blinder will share real world examples, from newspapers in markets of all sizes. Learn methods of packaging and pricing your current product offerings. As well as best target advertiser categories to prospect. 

Topics will include:

  • What digital solutions can be easily sold by legacy reps (And, which ones are problematic)
  • Who sells this stuff? (Do you REALLY need a separate digital sales force?)
  • Which digital offerings provide the best profit

A) Successfully Developing Local Magazines. Presented by Leonard Woolsey, publisher, Galveston County (TX) Daily News
B) Branding Forward: Panel Discussion on Improving Your Newspaper's Relevance. Panel led Alexander Gould, The Meridian Star. This panel covers a joint partnership during the fall of 2018 between The Meridian Star and the Integrated Marketing Communications program at the University of Mississippi.
