State journalists to convene in Biloxi

The 145th Annual Convention of the Mississippi Press Association will be held June 20-22 on Mississippi's Gulf Coast. Over 100 newspaper and media professionals will attend the event, which will include the presentation of the MPA Hall of Fame Inductee for 2013 and the return of the MPA Regatta, last held in 2005 prior to the landfall of Hurricane Katrina.

The convention gets underway at Biloxi's Beau Rivage Resort and Casino with an opening reception Thursday evening, June 20, at the Biloxi Visitors Center. Programs Friday morning include a keynote presentation by Bill Nichols, editor-at-large of Politico and a former Mississippi journalist. Saturday sessions include programs on a variety of newspaper and editorial topics, the Affordable Healthcare Act, multimedia and design. We will wrap up the event with the annual Better Newspaper Contest awards luncheon.
