Trustmark Corp. President and CEO Jerry Host will be the honoree at the annual MPA Education Foundation Celebrity Roast, Feb. 7, at the Hilton Jackson.
The evening of fun and frivolity is the major fundraiser for the Foundation's summer internship program.

Host, who started at Trustmark in 1984, will join the ranks of other notable Mississippians such as former Gov. Haley Barbour, Mississippi State University President Dr. Mark Keenum, and the late Jerry Clower, in being roasted by the state's press association.

Host has served as chief operating officer, executive vice president and chief financial officer, chairman of the board of Trustmark Financial Services, Inc., executive vice president of the company’s consumer services group and chief investment officer. He received his BA degree in economics from the University of South Alabama. He is a graduate of the National School of Financial & Funds Management at the University of Illinois and the Graduate School of Financial & Funds Management at the University of Oklahoma. He also received his Graduate Certificate from the LSU School of Banking.

"We are grateful to Jerry for agreeing to be a good sport and help us raise money for a cause very important to our members and the First Amendment," said Joel McNeece, chairman of the MPA Education Foundation and publisher of The Calhoun County Journal in Bruce.

Author and cartoonist Marshall Ramsey of the Clarion Ledger and MPB Think Radio, a longtime member of the roast panel, will assume the role of roastmaster this year. Ramsey, who has substituted in the emcee role previously, takes over for longtime roastmaster Sid Salter.

"We are deeply grateful to Sid for his years of support of this program," said MPA Executive Director Layne Bruce. "He was one of the founding members of the event and was even roasted himself in 1999.

"We are also pleased Marshall takes over this role," he added. "He's been a tremendous source of support and good humor through the years, and we know he'll do a fantastic job as roastmaster."

Individual tickets are on sale now for $80. Tables of eight are $600. Corporate sponsorships are also available.
