After an award-winning 15 year career with the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Dianne opened her own company, Dyar Communication + Strategy. DCS focuses on customer service, teamwork, celebrating, and building your network. Dyar is the Director of Big Ideas for Office Networx, an independent office supply company in Ridgeland. She graduated in December, 2012 with a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration, Mississippi State University. She is an avid reader, loves to knit and quilt and is a new executive consultant with Rodan and Fields Dermatologists. Dianne will kick off the conference with a motivational presentation Friday morning, Jan. 31, at 9 am.
Margie Johnson, highly acclaimed speaker, trainer, author, and consultant, equips entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills that lead them to higher profitability and performance. She is the owner of Shop Talk consulting. Margie’s thirty-year career as an entrepreneur and business expert has given her the experience to develop customer-centered strategies and solutions that work. These strategies have given thousands of businesses the competitive edge needed to survive and thrive. Since 1985, Shop Talk, located in Virginia Beach, VA, has served as a specialized consultation and research firm concentrated in retail, hospitality, health care, and financial industries. Margie will present the key note address "New Era, New Strategies" Friday morning, Jan. 31.
John Lindsey formed Lindsey and Associates in 1988 and has conducted training for newspapers throughout the country, including The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Houston Chronicle, The Arizona Republic, and The Seattle Times. He rejoined the Arizona Republic in October of 1993 as Training and Development Manager. He now conducts workshops on sales, management, team building, time management, conflict resolution, civil treatment, telemarketing, and a variety of other courses. He’s taught courses at American Press Instituteand Newspaper Association of America. Lindsey has held workshops for over 25 state newspaper associations. John will lead an Advertising Sales Boot Camp Friday afternoon, Jan. 31, and a session on Selling Against Competitive Media, Saturday, Feb. 1
John McKie was named chief integrated marketing officer (CIMO) in 2012 of Jackson-based GodwinGroup. He also serves as managing partner. for the firm, which he joined in 2000. His duties include serving as senior and lead counsel on major accounts, as well as management of the day-to-day operations and direct oversight of creative, digital, web, media and public relations departments. McKie earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and an MBA from Mississippi State University. John will take part in a luncheon panel discussion on MPA's new marketing initiative Friday, Jan. 31.
Darren Sanefski has an extensive news design and marketing background. He received his master of arts (interactive design) from the State University of New York at Oswego and a bachelor of fine arts (visual communication) from Syracuse University. He was on the faculty at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University from 2005 until 2011 and is now an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Meek School of Journalism and New Media. During his time at Newhouse, his 2011 Military Visual Journalism class won an AEJMC Best of the Web, Second Place. He runs a freelance marketing and graphic design business, DMS Design Studio. Darren will present two sessions on magazine and news design principles Friday afternoon, Jan. 31.
