Get Your Game Face On!
MPA members will convene at the Jackson Hilton on County Line Road with their "Game Faces On" to learn more about planning a successful sales touchdown drive for 2014 and beyond. The annual Mid-Winter Conference kicks off Friday morning, Jan. 31 with programs centered on sales and customer service and the debut of an exciting new marketing campaign tailored for newspapers in Mississippi by the Jackson-based GodwinGroup.
The event kicks off with an energetic program by motivational speaker Dianne Dyar of Dyar Communication + Strategy. The morning's keynote address will be presented by Margie Johnson, retail expert with Shop Talk. Johnson, who has worked with hundreds of local retailers to improve their sales and profitability, will speak to MPA members on "What Local Retailers Need from Their Newspaper."
Another Friday highlight is the big reveal of the Godwin marketing presentation at noon. A panel of representatives, led by Senior Partner John McKie, will explain the backstory and creative process behind MPA's new marketing initiative, which capitalizes on the data mined from the 2013 Advertising and Media Use Survey conducted on behalf of the Association and its members by American Opinion Research of Princeton, NJ.
Other highlights of the conference include a Friday evening football tailgate party and the Better Newspaper Contest Advertising Division awards luncheon on Saturday.
Members are encouraged to dress in their favorite football team's colors and apparel for the entire event.
As is traditional, the conference will be preceded by the annual MPA Education Foundation Celebrity Roast the evening of Jan. 30.
