JACKSON –"We are pleased Senate Bill 2407 is alive in the House," said Calhoun County Journal Publisher Joel McNeece, president of the Mississippi Press Association. "But we believe the effort to limit its reach to just Jackson County is misguided and does not address the rights of taxpayers to have more oversight of what goes on at these large public institutions."
"The press association feels strongly that what is good for the goose is good for the gander," said Layne Bruce, MPA Executive Director. "Transparency should apply to all public hospitals, not just the ones that have been put in a corner for naughty behavior."
Founded in 1866, the Mississippi Press Association is the trade group for 110 member newspapers and affiliated websites.
