The MPA Education Foundation was organized in 1984 to promote the advancement of journalism education, study, research and development.

These goals are accomplished through the following activities:

• Financial Assistance: Scholarships [PDF], Grants for Services
• Internships
• Fellowships
• Lectureships
• Professorships
• Donations of time, materials, and equipment.

The funds used in the financial assistance programs are raised through projects, such as the Silent Auction, the Roast, Memorials, and Corporate Funding.

A Board of Directors composed of 4 officers and 9 members governs MPAEF.

Newspaper In Education (NIE) - a cooperative effort of newspapers working with local schools to use the newspaper as a tool for instruction.
