Hypnotist Brian Powers will present his “Powers of the Mind” comedy hypnosis show Friday night during MPA’s Midwinter Conference at the Jackson Hilton.

For more than a decade, Powers has been mesmerizing audiences from coast to coast with his comedy show. He will also be a program presenter Saturday morning during concurrent sessions, during which he will show conference attendees how to use subconscious potential to beef up the bottom lines at their newspapers.

Powers Friday night show will follow a group dinner in the Hilton’s Penthouse. The comedy show, during which Powers said all situations are “in good taste,” will involve the audience and volunteers who take part in the proceedings.

His Saturday morning seminar will help attendees deal effectively with different personalities they encounter in their work and sales efforts.

Some of Powers’ past clients include John Deere, Cargill, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Special Olympics. Learn more about Brian Powers.

Midwinter Conference is Jan. 24-26

MPA’s Midwinter Conference returns to the Jackson Hilton Hotel January 24-26, 2008. “The Power of Suggestion” will feature workshops and training on a variety of advertising and production topics, including sales presentations from nationally-known speakers, and a few “veteran” midwinter presenters, including John Lindsay, Lisa Tackett Griffin and Mike Blinder.

The conference opens this year with the annual MPA Education Foundation Roast, which in years past has been held after the conclusion of the meeting. MPAEF board members voted to move the roast to Thursdays beginning in 2008 to help increase participation from the Jackson business community, from lawmakers and from MPA members in general.

Anthony Topazi, CEO of Mississippi Power, is the honoree at this year’s event. Topazi has been lauded for his efforts at leading the company and spearheading its community recovery efforts along the coast in the southern region of the state following Hurricane Katrina. Information on roast tickets is forthcoming from MPA.

Hotel reservations are available for a rate of $114 by calling the Hilton at 601-957-2800 or 1-800-HILTON. They may also be made online at hilton.com. The MPA group code is PRESS. The room block expires Jan. 3, so make your reservations today.
