The Meridian Star, a 15,000 circulation daily paper located in Meridian, Mississippi, is seeking a full-time Assistant Sports Editor that is a skilled writer and reporter who also has a keen eye for page design. The right candidate will be part of a 3-person sports staff covering 22 high schools and three junior colleges that contend for championships in every sport. There will also be opportunities to cover Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Miss. The candidate must be self-motivated with excellent time management skills. Ideal recruits will have sports experience at a college newspaper, a weekly or daily, Quark or InDesign experience and an eye for the story behind the game. Although much of our coverage is of preps and Alcorn State University, we branch out to LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and the New Orleans Saints when pertinent. The Meridian Star, a 15,000/daily in East Mississippi, is looking
for the right candidate to fill in the third position in the sports
department. The ideal candidate will have sports knowledge, be able
to work on tight deadlines and layout the sports section up to five
nights a week. Ideal candidates will have excellent design skills,
good copy-editing skills and an awareness of deadline.  The Meridian
Star uses Quark to produce pages, so those skills are preferred. This
