PRODUCTION MANAGER

We’re currently looking for an experienced production manager for one of our Louisiana locations. This person must be a hands-on manager that can lead our pressroom and production departments to achieve our quality and efficiency goals. Responsibilities include scheduling & managing day-to-day operations in those departments, leading press maintenance and safety and training efforts, assisting with press operation, along with leading our ongoing quality improvement and waste reduction efforts. Successful candidate must have excellent leadership and communication skills along with a positive attitude, which helps create a proactive team environment. The Vicksburg Post is seeking an experienced operator to work in the production and presentation department, designing pages, working with editors, pressmen and other departments on the timely design and production of the daily newspaper. Strong computer skills, creativity and a willingness to work with others are imperative. Some weekend work is required.

The desk uses Photoshop, Indesign, NewsEdit and the Internet.

The Post publishes afternoons Monday-Friday and mornings on Saturday and Sunday, as well as on the web.

The Delta Democrat Times, a daily newspaper in Greenville, Mississippi, is looking for a quality-obsessed, hands-on production manager who can also serve as head pressman for our small Urbanite crew. We are looking for someone who is technically oriented, cares about quality and can run the press. We have a new Screen CTP, computerized CC1 closed loop registration, automated plate bending, new slot locks and state-of-the-art prepress registration controls. We want someone who can make this fancy equipment hum and make this newspaper plant run like a commercial plant. Our ideal production manager should be able to implement a regular maintenance program and regular plate and press calibrations using densitometers.

The Qualified candidate must be able to work with people and manage and motivate the press crew. Urbanite and good computer skills a plus. The press prints several other inter-company twice-weeklies and weeklies and is looking to expand our commercial business. Pay range is 45k-55k based on experience.
