Gale Denley Student Media Center (SMC) and advisement of students working in the SMC. The SMC employs eight full-time professionals and a student staff of more than 200. The SMC publishes and broadcasts a daily student newspaper, FCC- licensed commercial radio station, yearbook, TV station, and numerous online products. The SMC is a complex, technology-driven, comprehensive, multi-media newsroom with an annual operating budget of more than $1 million, the majority of which is self-generated. The success and growth of the SMC largely depends on operating under sound business practices and the ability to generate revenue. The Director of the SMC reports to the Dean of the School of Journalism and is responsible for teaching one course each semester in the School of Journalism. Professorial rank will be based on experience and publications.
