Communications Specialist, Ridgeland, MS
Today in Mississippi, a monthly tabloid newspaper with an in-state circulation of more than 450,000, is looking for a communications specialist to join its team. The communications specialist serves as editor of Today’s special sections for local electric power associations and assists in various public relations activities.
Primary responsibilities include the production of text, editing, layout and photography for 15 local editions. This includes several features each month and general news and industry articles.
The communications specialist also organizes and directs a youth leadership program, which is sponsored by Electric Power Associations of Mississippi, publisher of Today. This program includes an annual workshop in Jackson and a week-long tour to Washington, D.C.
Candidate should have proven experience and solid writing and editing experience. Experience with Quark Express and Photoshop is a plus. Also required are the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines; strong organizational skills; written and oral communication skills; superior oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills; strong technical aptitude; a relentless focus on objectives; an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction; and an ability to execute on multiple priorities in this fast-paced environment.
