The Mississippi Press, located on the Gulf Coast, is seeking an experienced editor. Our daily morning newspaper is in a highly competitive news locale. Our goal is to greatly emphasize local and community news and have less dependence on wire copy. Local names and faces, submitted school, club, church, and organization news and photos are highly prized. Growing readership through the comprehensive and accurate coverage of the five municipalities in our market will be the primary charge of our new editor. Intensified coverage of local prep and league sports is critical. Our new editor will manage a 25 person newsroom and must be able to inspire and instruct a young but talented staff. The Mississippi Press is located in Jackson County, Mississippi at the eastern Alabama state line along I-10. Candidate must have at least five years of senior management experience at a daily or weekly newspaper along with a journalism degree.
