Judge rides fence on security tape issue

A Leflore County chancery judge has delayed a decision on whether a school security tape of an alleged violent confrontation between a student and security guard will be made public. Meanwhile, a $1 million lawsuit against a Greenwood cop, Police Chief Henry Harris and the City of Greenwood was filed by the attorney for the Greenwood High School senior at the center of imbroglio.

Attorney: County will comply with request

The attorney for the Claiborne County Board of Supervisors, responding to a public records request from The Vicksburg Post, said Friday that documents related to the county’s phone system purchase will be made available, but more time is needed.

Newspaper documentary to air Jan. 18

The documentary “Pressing On,” which profiles the five Gulf Coast newspapers’ efforts to cover Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath, will air Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. The program was produced by Ralph Braseth, director of the Student Media Center at Ole Miss, and journalism student Brandon Ross.

Chancery Judge Percy Lynchard’s comments to the DeSoto Times Today that the state of Tennessee faced “one hell of a fight” if it came to Mississippi to try to seize assets of the multimillion dollar Maddox Foundation have gotten him removed from the case.
