Keane departs Wayne County News

Paul Keane has stepped down as publisher of the Wayne County News, capping a near three-year run at the helm of the paper. During the period, the paper was twice honored as the state’s best large weekly paper in the MPA’s Better Newspaper Contest and won accolades for its annual, very hearty Football Edition and its pictoral volume after Hurricane Katrina. Keane announced in the Sept. 20 edition he was departing to join his wife in a family business venture.

In other developments, the paper announced it would return to publishing on Thursdays after several years appearing weekly on Wednesdays.
