Washington Post taps BluMunKee

The Washington Post said it will license Morris Digital Works’ BluMunKee prepress automation software.

Integration with The Post’s front-end system is scheduled for completion late this month, Morris said.

MDW’s BluMunKee app corrects pictures, creates color and monochrome versions in various sizes, formats, resolutions and gamuts, Morris said, and will integrate with The Post’s pressroom workflow to manage the flow of pictures to and from PDF files, servers, databases, properties, departments and customers.

The Post tested the BluMunKee software for four weeks, according to Kevin Conner, quality assurance manager at The Post.

“It passed the proof-of-concept analysis with flying colors,” he said. “[It] will allow our imaging staff more time to concentrate on the photos we want to really focus on the most.”
